(Military) 1917 (21 Oct) French patriotic propaganda card to France, unfranked and bearing violet cachet ‘Mission Militaire Francaise En Russie’ then at Petrograd, Russia. Shortly after Bolshevik revolution when town name was changed from St Petersburg.
(Missionary Mail) 1843 outer letter sheet to Wesleyan Missions House, London, docketed as from George Parsonson, St Mary’s, 9th May 1843 (received 27 June), reverse shows a red London arrival overstriking a straight-line SHIP LETTER, carried by the “Patriot” that arrived at Dartmouth on 26th, the mail presumably in a closed bag that was sent up to London and sorted there, the front showing “8”d charge erased and ½oz to 1oz charge of “1/4” . A fine early item.

Fine example of rare double weight registered French community rate. Ex Grabowski, who recorded six known 45c single franking usages.

(Moroccan Local Posts) 1897 (6 Giu) cover to British Post Office, Tangier franked Marakesh a Mazagan 10c. tied violet Marrakesh cds, reverse with Mazagan cds (8 Giu) of Local Post and where put into the British Offices with pair of 5c. applied cancelled ‘A26’ obliterator, Mazagan Morocco cds alongside of 10 JU and Tangier backstamp of 15 JU. A little tone spotting of scant significance to this rare combination cover.
