Grenada 1845 (23/9) outer letter sheet addresed “To the Secretaries of the Wesleyan Missions/ at the Centenary Hall and Mission House, Bishopsgate” London rated “1/-“ (deleted) and re-rated “2” showing a good strike of the very rare CARRIACOU straight-line handstamp in brownish ink, the revrse with two arriva datestamps (20.10). An exceptionally rare marking with three dated in 1842 and this example being the latest recorded and only one in 1845. Ex Danforth Walker and Hackmey, RPS Cert
The London proof book shows this marking as CARRIACOU/ SHIP LETTER although no examples with the ship letter portio have ever been found, probably as it was considered to be more useful purely as a normal town name marking.
